Hello and welcome to my section of the Modylab! I have recently joined the lab after graduating from Medical School at the University of Bologna, Italy in 2007.

Before moving to the United States to attend Graduate school, I have worked on several clinical research projects in the department of Neurology at the University of Bologna. The main focus of my research has been to study the behavior of central pattern generators in patients with refractory epilepsy. This first brought me to UCLA, where I conducted my thesis research project at the Seizure Disorder Center.

I then decided that it was time for me to further investigate the basic mechanisms of excitation-inhibition imbalances, which represent the fundamental mechanism of seizure triggering. In the Modylab, I will focus on studying the inhibition aspect of the picture, by investigating the plasticity and regulation of GABAA receptor in the hippocampus.

In my spare time I enjoy exploring new places, Italian Opera, English Renaissance theatre, French literature and fantasy books.
